starting off...

this blog is meant to be a place to connect with other members of gswa and be able to talk about issues pertaining to women both domestically and abroad. we'll also for the time being post upcoming gswa events on here until we (hopefully) get a website up and running.

as an intro to myself... my name is laura leischner and i'm a rising senior and an interdisciplinary major (peace, justice & conflict studies, int'l studies and women's studies) and on the steering committee for gswa. after attending the national women's studies association annual meeting this summer in illinois a few of us from goshen started talking about how to make gswa better. we had ideas to have at least a monthly large group meeting and each time have a specific issue to discuss.. a "tea time" if you will. we also threw around the idea of having small groups within gswa that include freshmen through seniors. we then had the idea of starting a blog to talk about women's issues....so here it is. now i want to know what ideas you all have. invite as many women as you can think of to look at this and especially invite incoming freshmen women to look at this blog to get involved and we'll try our best to reach out too. we want everyone's input and really are striving to make gswa a support group for women on goshen college's campus where all are welcome and invited to attend regardless of our views on the f-word (feminist/ism). in the next couple of days there will be more posts, so keep checking back!
